Large cockerel wired platter

This large slipware platter has the cockerel motif over my microchip pattern.

The cockerel represents courage and new beginnings in Eastern European folk art, and the microchip, motif reminds me we all share the desire for connection.

In addition to the decorating, when making my wired platters I trim the a bit too soon, and dry them a bit too fast, which results in cracks that allow me to embellish them with salvaged copper wire. 

I think of all the messages and devices the wire might have connected in it's earlier incarnation.

As always, I have included holes in the foot ring for you to display this piece on your wall until the next time you take it down to load it with roasties or cakes.
